ARTHRITIS
Arthritis is a common joint problem that can affect one as well as multiple joints. Generally there are more than 100 different types of arthritis. But the most common among them are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. The problem of arthritis is more common in women as compared to men. In general, it occurs frequently in older people.
Different Types Of Arthritis

OSTEOARTHRITIS:
Osteoarthritis is one of the most common type of arthritis. This problem occurs mainly due to the breakdown of the cartilage in the joints.
In general, this type of arthritis can occur in any joint of our body. But the weight bearing joints of the hips, spine and knees are commonly affected due to this type of arthritis.
Osteoarthritis may sometimes, affect fingers, neck, large toe and thumb as well.
ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS:
Ankylosing spondylitis is another form of arthritis, in which, there occurs painful inflammation that mainly affects the spine. It causes the ankylosis of vertebral as well as sacroiliac joints and is more common in younger males.
The word ankylosing spondylitis consist of two words "ankylo" which means stiffening of a joint and the other word "spondylo" which means vertebrae. In this type of arthritis, the bones of the spine may grow or fuse together which results in a rigid spine.
In general, commonly affected joints by ankylosing spondylitis are the Joints between the vertebrae of the spine and joints between the spine and pelvis. It may occur in other joints as well such as the joints of the shoulders, knees and hips etc.
RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS:
Rheumatoid arthritis is also a common form of arthritis that usually starts at the middle age, but can occur in young children and elder people also. Rheumatoid arthritis affects joints on both sides of the body.
The hands, wrists and knees are commonly affected parts by this type of arthritis. It may affect the skin, lungs, heart, blood, eyes and nerves as well.
What Are The Symptoms Of Arthritis?
THE COMMON SYMPTOMS OF ARTHRITIS ARE LISTED BELOW:
- Pain in the joints.
- Inflammation in the joints.
- Stiffness, swelling, redness and warmth in the joints.
- Tenderness in the inflamed joints.
- Sometimes, fever, weight loss and fatigue.
What Are The Causes Of Arthritis?
THERE ARE SEVERAL CAUSES OF ARTHRITIS, BUT THE MORE COMMON ONES ARE LISTED BELOW:
- An infection or injury to the joint.
- Reduction in the normal amount of cartilage.
- Weak immune system.
- Family history.
- Age factor.
How Can Arthritis Be Diagnosed?
A doctor can diagnose arthritis by physical exam. During this diagnosis, he will check for fluid around the red, swollen joints as well as the limited motion in the joints.
By extracting and analyzing the joint fluids, he can diagnose from what type of arthritis, a person is suffering. There are some tests that can be used to confirm the arthritis. These include X-ray, MRI and CT scans. These tests helps to see the detailed images of the bones as well as cartilage.
