The Kidneys are a pair of bean shaped organs that are present in the back of the abdomen. Each kidney is about the size of a fist (4-5 inches long). The main function of the kidneys is to filter the blood. The Kidneys remove the wastes; maintain the fluid and electrolyte balance in the body.
What Do You Mean By Kidney Failure?
Kidney failure is the end stage at which kidney is not able to remove the waste from the blood and control the fluid level in the body. It can happen suddenly or gradually. Kidney failure is also known as the renal failure.
What Are The Causes Of The Kidney Failure?
THE CAUSES OF THE KIDNEY FAILURE ARE AS FOLLOWS:
·         High Blood sugar.
·         High Blood Pressure.
·         Reflux nephropathy.
·         Inflammations of the nephrons in the kidney.
·         Polycystic kidney disease.
·         Some Drugs causes kidney failure like NSAIDS (non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs).
What Can Be The Types Of Kidney Failure?
THE KIDNEY FAILURE CAN BE TWO TYPES:
1. CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE
The disease develops gradually, and the kidney function get worsens over the years. If someone permanently loses the kidney function more than one third, then it is known as chronic kidney disease and ultimately it leads to kidney failure.
The Causes for the chronic kidney disease are as follows:
·         Diabetes (type 1 or type 2).
·         Glomerulonephritis.
·         Pyelonephritis.
·         Polycystic kidney disease.
·         Prolonged obstruction of the urinary tract.
Risk factors for chronic kidney disease:
·         Hereditary.
·         Diabetes.
·         High blood pressure.
·         Age over 60 years.
·         Smoking.
·         Heart disease.
2. ACUTE KIDNEY FAILURE
A sudden drop in kidney function is known as acute kidney failure. It can be life threatening and requires immediate treatment.
Risk factors for the acute kidney failure are as follows:
·         Advanced Age.
·         Peripheral artery disease.
·         Heart failure.
·         Kidney diseases.
·         Liver diseases.
The causes of the acute kidney failure:
·         Pre-Renal (Reduced blood supply to the kidney).
·         Renal (Damage to the kidney itself).
·         Post-Renal (obstructions in the other part of urinary tract).
Acute renal kidney is less common than chronic kidney failure.
What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of The Kidney Failure?
THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF THE KIDNEY FAILURE ARE AS FOLLOWS:
IN THE EARLY STAGE THERE ARE NO SYMPTOMS BUT THERE ARE FEW SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS WHICH SHOW KIDNEY FAILURE ARE AS FOLLOWS AS:
·         Tiredness.
·         Headache.
·         Lack of concentration.
·         Nausea and vomiting.
·         Frequency and urgency of urine.
·         Swelling in the legs and ankles.
How To Diagnose The Kidney Failure?
THE DIAGNOSE OF THE KIDNEY FAILURE CAN BE DONE BY THE FOLLOWING TEST:
·         Blood test (GFR Glomerular filtration rate which measure how kidney filtrates the waste from the body).
·         Urine test (albumin, RBC, WBC and glucose).
·         Ultrasound, CT scan, X-ray.
·         Kidney Biopsy.
